Leonardo Fabbri showed his talent for shot put from a very young age, quickly reaching the top of national and international competitions.
Fabbri’s beginnings
Leonardo Fabbri’s career began at just 15 years old, when he won the Italian individual and regional track championships for cadets in 2012 in Jesolo. The following year, after entering the youth category, he began receiving calls to the Italian national youth athletics team, finishing third in the shot put at the 2013 EYOF in the Netherlands.
The rise in the world of athletics
Fabbri’s rise has taken place in various national and international events. In 2014, he won three national titles in the youth category and participated in the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, where he finished seventh in the shot put. His youth successes also include a gold medal at the 2018 Under-23 Mediterranean Championships and a silver medal at the 2019 Under-23 European Championships.
The successes
In 2017, she won her first medal at the Italian Senior Indoor Championships with a bronze in the shot put. In 2018, she began receiving calls to the senior national team and won her first senior national indoor title. In 2020, she set the Italian indoor record with a throw of 21.59 meters in Stockholm, surpassing Alessandro Andrei’s previous record. She continued to improve her performances, reaching 21.99 meters in 2020 and setting a new personal best of 22.34 meters at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, where she won the silver medal.
Leonardo Fabbri is a key figure in Italian track and field thanks to his unwavering dedication and exceptional talent in the shot put.
