On January 29, 1910, the Padova Football Association was founded at the Bar Borsa in Piazzetta delle Garzerie. Baron Giorgio Treves de’Bonfili was appointed president, and Marquis Giuseppe Corradi was vice president. On February 20, the team made its debut in a friendly against Hellas Verona, which ended in a goalless draw at the “Giovan Battista Belzoni” stadium.
The history of Padova began in the 1920s, when the club was chosen to inaugurate the first Serie A championship with a single round robin format. It would remain in Serie A between 1948 and 1952. Many legendary figures emerged in this early part of the Biancoscudo century. One above all was Silvio Appiani, Padova’s first star player, who led the team in the 1914/15 season with his 18 goals in 14 games.
On October 20, 1915, the young volunteer Appiani died on the Carso. His great talent was extinguished, but he will remain for years as a symbol of youth and passion for Paduan football, immortalized in the concrete of the stadium that has been named after him since 1924.
